Overview

To Carry is a small town noir/mystery conceived as a television pilot (2023), which I've since outlined as a narrative-driven game. Set in the mist-shrouded woods and affluent lake communities on the outskirts of Seattle, the story follows Edward Ferrier (38), a painter seeking refuge from scandal, as he moves to a lakeside home and into self-imposed exile. The story blends atmosphere with small-town noir trappings, inviting audiences (and players) to navigate Edward’s journey as he investigates a mystery surrounding his childhood friend’s suspicious death.

Synopsis
After a scandal derails his painting career in the Los Angeles art world, Edward Ferrier returns to his childhood home, an affluent lakeside enclave on the outskirts of Seattle, hoping to vanish from public life. But when he reconnects with his late friend’s mother, Beth, he becomes entangled in the mystery surrounding the young man’s death—a case dismissed by local authorities as suicide. As Edward digs deeper, his search for peace gives way to obsession, exposing secrets that tie the town, the family, and his own past together.
